Participants will be asked in advance to consider a difficult situation at work. We will discuss how each of these tools can support prevention/solutions for communication challenges.

Participants will also be asked to complete a simple behavioral styles assessment. (Know yourself so you can understand others.)

Expect to learn about:

Audience Engagement

• Understand research about eye contact and other key physical skills and how to leverage them effectively.
• Learn how to make simple changes in delivery that can keep audiences engaged and connected.
• Practice eye contact in a breakout activity.

Getting the audience to talk

• Uncover the power of a dialogue opener.
• Learn how to create a joint agenda. 

• Be introduced to a simple roadmap that changes the dialogue before it even begins.

Understanding your audience 

• Discover 4 main behavioral styles.
• Learn how to understand your audience and use the tools above to successfully communicate with others (especially those whose style is different from your own).
• Assess someone’s style and learn how to adjust your own style to theirs in real time.

Managing resistance and objections 

• Discuss how and why we should ask powerful questions.
• Practice handling objections with less conflict and emotion.
• Discover a tool that helps create avenues for agreement.
